Breast screening: the content, and process of writing, new information

Some interesting links can be found on: http://blogs.crikey.com.au/croakey/2012/11/30/unpicking-some-of-the-ongoing-debate-around-breast-cancer-screening/

including one to a piece by Alexandra Barratt (Sydney University) and Ray Moynihan (Bond University) which ends with quote from the Marmot panel recommendations:

”Clear communication of these harms and benefits to women is essential, and is the core of how a modern health system should function.”

But take a look at responses to the 3 Nigel Hawkes` NEWS reports in the BMJ about the Citizens` Jury, eg Mary Bond (4 Dec) in response to the third:

Have I really got this right, that there is a serious proposal, based on a completely unscientific process (the citizen’s jury) and biased and inaccurate information, to misinform women and prefer reassurance over accuracy in the new breast cancer information leaflet? You are joking aren’t you?”
