I’m trying this as a way to contact you – post on blog, then can send to social media:
I receive the BMJ Quality Newsletter and came across slides from minicourse M5 “The School for Health and Care Radicals” held at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Health Care, 8th April 2014. It’s most encouraging to know there are a group of healthcare radicals committed to change (and improvement). As a 24 year patient advocate (described as a radical patient activist in Charlotte Williamson’s ‘Towards the Emancipaton of Patients’) I can empathise with your difficulties in speaking out. I was a lone voice in my area for many years during the nineteen nineties – and met plenty of brick walls!
Do you know about ‘Hearts in Healthcare’ (www.heartsinhealthcare.com) – an online community started by anaesthetist Robin Youngson, committed to putting compassion back into healthcare for staff as well as patients?
Do patients/activists figure anywhere in your organisation?
My blog: evenstarsexplode.wordpress.com may be of interest – much on breast screening.
With best wishes
